Spring forward to Create a Plan

Well, another birthday for me! Each year I find spring beckons me forward – calling out it’s promise of renewal.

I feel very lucky that my birthday coincides with the end of winter and the beginning of spring. The days are getting longer and some of natures’ colour is hinting of her return. Colour is also inching it’s way back into our black & neutral decor palettes. Even my fellow designers have been spotted in Paris and  New York “a la rainbow” with smiling faces while still shivering a little as the weather has yet to relent. Take advantage and make this the perfect time to gather your thoughts and ideas for your next project. There is nothing more relaxing then watching the first birds of spring flutter around while sitting in a cozy indoor spot flipping through books and magazines picking out the rooms you like.

Create a plan by gathering your ideas. List priorities by project or by room. Write down a range of prices for the design elements like lighting and furniture that you want to incorporate. Determine if this is a DIY or if you want professional expertise. Put all the pictures and notes and flyers in a file folder or binder so you have easy access as the projects become active.

The bounty of nature can calm and refresh our spirits and our spaces. By taking time to think through and create a plan we can update more economically creating the luxurious inviting home we crave. We can select and perfectly place focal design elements to enhance our homes and our hearts. We can proudly welcome our friends and family home.
